Daniel Fast!

Today is day 9 of our Daniel Fast. It is going great, its amazing the options we have found. I think Shawn is still in shock that I'm doing this good. He thought for sure with my crappy diet I would be in detox, haha proved him wrong! Its amazing what a little prayer will do for you. I've maybe had 2 headaches but other than that I feel good.

My new favorite snack....mmm....Quaker Lightly Salted Rice Cakes and Smuckers Strawberry Simply Fruit. Yummo!
Shawn is questioning why we should ever go back to the way we ate before when we seem to be doing good at this. One word TASTY. Just kidding I'm definitely planning to do a lot better making choices, its amazing now that we are taking time to read labels what we really are eating. Frightening.

Moving....ugh!

We spent last weekend helping my mom to move. She purchased a home in Stuart, Iowa, I'm so excited for her. She hasn't owned a home since my parents divorced in 1979. WOW! She is pretty pumped to know that this is her house. She has been working in Stuart since September and driving back to her house in Orient, she had been talking about wanting to move to Stuart and Shawn and I finally convinced her she should buy.
Closing was supposed to happen on Friday (3:00) and the key word would be supposed to. We have had nightmare after nightmare with the mortgage broker and at 2:00 on Friday they called to say it was going to have to be Monday. Luckily the current owner was nice enough to let us go ahead and move her, since the u-haul and all the helpers were already in line. The only stipulation, she couldn't stay there. So it was supposed to happen yesterday, again supposed to. Now they are saying today, and I think if it doesn't happen my Mom is going to explode. All of her stuff is in her new house, her old house is empty. So I think she's feeling homeless. She stayed with us Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Then stayed with her sister last night because the weather was too bad to drive here. Please keep her in your prayers that she can be in her own bed tonight, and all of this mess will be put to rest. I'll let you know soon the broker you definitely don't want to use.....

Loved it!

Today was Mom's Group at Jumpin' Jacks. Usually we order up a pizza to share but not today. I packed my lunch box and we were off. I packed some nuts, fruit, a salad and some water. I just ended up snacking on some nuts there but had my salad when I got home. This handy little tool pictured here is awesome! We already had it prior to the fast but is definitely going to get some good use now. I'm almost positive it came from Target. Its good because it keeps the lettuce and dressing seperate. Then when your ready to use it you just push the top and the dressing runs down into the salad and you shake it up. Shake-Shake-Shake-Shake your salad.....
Highly recommended by me!
Also unsweetened GRANNY SMITH applesauce may be a cure for all of us with a sweet tooth! Yummy!

It continues...

Okay so one day down. Seriously it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Colby kept questioning me-what if you get really hungry, what if your stomach is growling. I said you know its all about what you think about, I will pray and be just fine and I was. Shawn and I made some yummy juice last night-banana,orange,apple,pineapple. I think the banana made all the difference it added a little substance to it. Other than that we drank a lot of water. Last night I started writing in my journal, reading the bible and I felt very much at peace. It truly is mind over matter.

Late this afternoon as the timer started ticking down in my head, I made a salad dressing. So we both had a whole plate of veggies and salad. Then I had some cashews. Then I started to make dinner. We had homemade fries and I sauteed some green beans in a little olive oil, added garlic and mushrooms. It was delicious.

Today I also made the commitment to do the Purpose Driven Life along with this. I have had the book forever and stopped and started it. I was close to have only 21 days left anyways so I'm going to read the days as we go through the fast.

Praise God, I'm feeling good! No headaches, and I don't think I've been grumpy. But you may have to ask my hubby to confirm this one.

Daniel Fast

So tonight starts the Daniel Fast we are doing with our church. It is a 21 day fast, but the first 24 hours are juice only. I'm thinking this will be the hardest part. So far so good, okay so I'm only a little over 2 hours in but hey.... Shawn and I spent the last hour or so cleaning fruits and vegetables. I think alot of making it is going to be just being prepared. We have a juicer which really makes awesome juice, it is so frothy its almost like a shake. Yummy! Starting tomorrow night we have a ton of recipes to try and that should keep us healthy or full.
I'm really excited about this, I think its going to be incredible. Rough, but incredible. Shawn couldn't believe I was even contemplating this. I don't have the healthiest diet. I got a journal and I'm going to start writing everyday, this should really help to get closer to God. Keep my family in your prayers, we will need it.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Its a girls dream come true today I have had two gorgeous boys fighting over me. Ok ok so one of them is 3 but hey, he still counts. But my forever Valentine-Shawn- came home this morning with two dozen beautiful red roses. He is so sweet. Red roses have always been our "thing". I can't count the number of times he sent me flowers (always red roses) while we were dating so it was only natural that it was the only flower in our wedding. Still makes me smile when he brings them for me. He also had to go to Let Them Eat Cake this morning and the owner sent home some awesome looking fudge for me, I haven't eaten any yet, I'm thinking it may be my dinner. :)

Meet the newest member of our family....

This little cutie came in Cale's happy meal today. I know not a very healthy lunch stop, I'm gourging myself this week in preparation for the 21 day fast coming up. Anyhow...she already has a name, it is Lisi.

Shawn: Why is her name Lisi?

Cale: Because I love Lisi.

Fun for the girls!

Friday night we met up at Amy Main's for JCFC girls night out. We had a great time and it had a great purpose. Everyone brought a dish to share and we had some yummy food. Then we made welcome baskets and valentine bags for the girls/women at Ruth Harbor. What a wonderful feeling helping make these baskets. So much fun and for such a good cause.
